Kissimmee River Restoration Fieldtrip
My graduate level Environmental Restoration seminar class, a few additional guests, and I took a field trip to the Kissimmee River to see the effects of the C-38 backfill and restoration project. In attendance were (in group picture from left to right) Kenia Mercado-Fritz, Chrissy Garcia, David Baron, Scott Markwith, Tyler Beck, Heather Jewett, Dean Monette, John Zahina, and (missing in group photo, sorry Howard) Howard Hanson. The Riverwoods Field Laboratory (FAU) hosted our trip, and Captain Ken and our guide Ron took us on a 4 hour boat cruise through sections of restored and unrestored river. The pictures below tell the story of our trip, a good and educational time was had by all, as you can see. I would like to thank Riverwoods, Louisa, Ken, and Ron for their hard work.
